On Friday 8/3/18, my team and I held a special event to sew pillowcases for PEDS patients at Mission Children’s Hospital, part of Mission Health, in Asheville, NC. As part of this sewing day, we also recorded a couple of “how to” videos with the hopes of engaging home sewers and volunteers who want to join us for our first Friday of the month sewing events. We ended up teaching several folks to sew, six more seasoned sewers attended, and we had dozens of folks who wandered into our conference room just to see what the “buzz” was all about.
I’m no stranger to presentations. I teach some sort of class almost every week at work. I’ve spoken at regional, national, and international conferences on topics from: “Engaging Gig Workers” to “Overhauling Performance Management with a Strengths-Based Approach” but I’ve never taught sewing, until now.
